Overhaul is on the way for the public washrooms and pavilion at Silvercreek Park, home to soccer fields, various community events and trails along the Eramosa River, across from the skatepark.
The washroom and pavilion have reached the end of their expected useful life, explains Jean Starchuk, project manager for the city, in an email statement to GuelphToday.
“We’ll also take the opportunity to make the facilities and the area around them fully accessible, installing accessible seating and connecting the site to the existing Silvercreek Park trail with accessible pathways,” he wrote. “Renovations include replacing the electrical and sanitary services, as well as adding heating to the washroom, to permit use year-round.”
Five of seven pre-qualified firms showed an interest in the project so far, with a Jan. 14 deadline for bidding offers.
“It’s anticipated the work will be complete by late spring or early summer,” Starchuk wrote.
