Some surgeries have been halted at the Ontario Veterinary College due to a burst water pipe causing temporary building closures.

A water pipe burst in the Stewart Building at the OVC’s Health Science Centre, causing water damage. As a result, the Stewart Building and the Large Animal Hospital are temporarily closed while staff respond, said media relations officer Katherine Hill.

Hill said the incident has not compromised patient safety, though all surgeries scheduled for Jan. 21 in both the Companion Animal Hospital and Large Animal Hospital have been cancelled.

A post by the university states hospital clients with scheduled surgeries or other appointments are advised to contact client services for further information.
