A new group of drivers will be in focus for the city’s automated speed enforcement cameras beginning on Monday. After three months in their current spots, they’re set to be moved.
The cameras, which see speeding vehicle owners receive tickets in the mail, are being rotated through school zones in the city.
They’re set to be moved Feb. 1, which is a Saturday, but will be put in place on Monday, explained Steve Anderson, the city’s manager of transport engineering.
The new locations will be in front of:
- Rickson Ridge Public School on Rickson Avenue
- Waverley Drive Public School on Waverly Drive
- St. Peter Catholic School on Westwood Road
- Ottawa Crescent Public School on Ottawa Crescent.
They’re currently found in front of:
- Kortright Hills P.S. on Ptarmigan Drive
- Guelph Montessori School on Waterloo Avenue
- Holy Rosary CS on Emma Street
- St. Michael Catholic School on McElderry Road
The cameras take photos of vehicles going above the posted speed limit and generate tickets for the registered owner, without demerit points. They were first set up in August, 2023
