Masks will no longer be required on school transportation when classes resume Monday.
Email statements from both the Upper Grand District School Board and Wellington Catholic District School Board said masks won’t need to be worn on school buses as well as inside school buildings. This applies to students, staff and visitors.
The decision to remove mandated masking is with guidance from Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health. This is in line with the provincial end to the mask mandate in most public settings, including schools, restaurants, gyms and stores on March 21.
Although school boards said people have the choice to still wear a mask and ask there be kindness and consideration to those who do.
Masks had previously been required to be worn by students in all grades since the fall of 2020.
Public transportation still requires Guelph transit riders to wear a mask while on City buses and will continue after the 21st.
