Police are looking for an armed suspect following a bank robbery on Stone Road West early Friday evening.
A man with a firearm entered the bank at about 5:20 p.m. and demanded money from employees, states a Guelph Police Service news release. He fled with an undisclosed quantity of cash.
No physical injuries were reported.
There was a heavy police presence around the CIBC branch near Scottsdale Drive, across from Stone Road Mall (in the plaza with Staples and McDonald's).

Police initially tweeted an advisory for the public to avoid the area, but called it off a couple hours later.
Among several police vehicles still at the scene at 7:30 p.m. was a Halton Police canine unit. Several police officers were inside the CIBC branch.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with an average build. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, black boots and carrying a tan-coloured backpack.

The Guelph Police Service is currently conducting an investigation in the area of Stone Road West and Scottsdale Drive. The public is being asked to stay away from the area. -st
