Local lawyer joins Guelph Police Services Board

The Guelph Police Services Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Peter McSherry to the board, effective April 26, 2020. Mr. McSherry was appointed to the board by the Solicitor General as a provincial appointee for a period of three years.

Mr. McSherry has practiced law in the City of Guelph since 1997. His areas of practice include employment law, human rights, real estate and general practice.

Throughout his career he has been active in community/volunteer activities including serving on the boards of the Rotary Club of Guelph, Bracelet of Hope, Torchlight Services and the Kiwanis Club of Guelph. Peter is looking forward to bringing his professional and community experiences to bear while serving on the Guelph Police Services Board.

Peter and his wife Leanne are proud parents of one daughter.

“We welcome Mr. McSherry to the Board,” said Robert Carter, chair of the board. “Mr. McSherry’s experience in employment law and involvement in our community will be a significant asset in our continuation of good governance for our exceptional police force.”

The Guelph Police Services Board is comprised of five members. Two are appointed by the Province; two are members of City Council and one a community representative appointed to the board by City Council. Mr. McSherry will take the place of Mr. Don Drone, whose term of appointment as provincial representative expired on April 25, 2020.
