The Guelph Symphony Orchestra will present its season-opening concert, The Search is Over, at River Run Centre on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. After an extensive conductor search, the stage is set to celebrate the start of a spectacular new season with the orchestra’s dynamic new music director, Adam Johnson!
The program will feature Beethoven’s sunny, life-affirming, Second Symphony, Carlos Simon’s atmospheric Breathe, and Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, with renowned piano soloist, Sheng Cai. This is Rachmaninoff’s most popular work for piano and orchestra. Its gorgeous themes have been featured in countless movies.
Adam Johnson has been the Conductor in Residence for the Montreal Symphony, conducting over 65 concerts with them and most recently has been appointed as the Music Director of the Baton Rouge Symphony. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Adam, to lead our orchestra!” said Catherine Molina, the orchestra’s General Manager.
