Mike Jobb, who spent about 30 years spearheading the community skating rink at Dovercliffe Park, died on Tuesday.

In honour of longtime community park skating rink volunteer Mike Jobb, who passed away last month, a fundraising skating event is set for this Saturday.

The memorial skate runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Dovercliffe Park, near College Avenue, west of the Hanlon Expressway.

There is no cost to participate, but donations are encouraged. Collected funds will be presented to the McMaster Children’s Hospital cancer ward and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Jobb, who spearheaded the outdoor community rink at Dovercliffe Park since the mid-1990s, suffered a fatal heart attack and died as he prepared to flood the ice. He was 64 years old.
