Fire reported on Northumberland Street

GUELPH FIRE DEPARTMENT

On Aug. 29, 2017 at 05:57 a.m., the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at (40 Northumberland Street). Units from five different stations arrived at the scene and found smoke and flames coming from the roof.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished. The top floor of the building was evacuated by firefighting crews and then staged in a city bus.

There were no injuries to civilians or firefighting staff.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation by Guelph fire investigators who remain on scene at this time.
