Diabetes Canada will be accepting donations this weekend at a drive-thru drop off event locally.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and run until noon at Giant Tiger on Silvercreek Parkway North where Diabetes Canada staff will be on site to collect bags of boxes of clothing.

“Through our clothing donation program encouraging people to donate their gently used clothing, Diabetes Canada is able to support diabetes research and give children with type 1 diabetes the opportunity to attend summer camps designed with their needs in mind," National Diabetes Trust president and CEO Sean Shannon said in a prepared statement. "Thanks to our generous donors and volunteers we also divert 100 million pounds of clothing and small household items from community landfills annually.”

Anyone who is interested in donating, but can't make it out to the event, can donate using one of the charity's donation bins.
