The Guelph Humane Society (GHS) is bringing back its popular Valentine’s Day initiative, Cupid’s Treats for Furry Feets, for a second year. After raising $9,000 in its inaugural effort, GHS hopes to surpass that goal in 2025, spreading even more love to the animals in its care.
“February can be a challenging time for GHS, as adoption rates tend to slow while the needs of animals in our care remain high,” said Jane Dawkins, director of communication and community engagement at GHS. “Every donation helps provide food, shelter, and medical care, ensuring these animals receive the love and support they need while they wait for their forever homes.”
Cupid’s Treats for Furry Feets gives supporters the chance to brighten a shelter animal’s day while receiving a special Valentine’s video in return.
How it works:
- Order a Cupid’s Treat: Available for purchase until noon on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
- Choose a treat: Select from a Lovebug Bunny Treat, a Sweetheart Cat Treat, a Delightful Dog Treat, or bundle all three to spread extra love.
- Receive a heartwarming video: On Valentine’s Day, supporters will receive a video of a shelter animal enjoying their special treat.
As an added bonus, GHS also invites community members to take part in its PAWfect Match Quiz to find their match this holiday and receive a furr-tastic Valentine from an animal in care.
“Valentine’s Day is all about showing love, and each of these initiatives are a perfect way for the community to share that love with animals in need,” said Dawkins. “A simple treat can bring so much joy to a shelter pet, and every contribution helps us continue our lifesaving work.”
