NEWS RELEASE
SALVATION ARMY GUELPH
*************************
The Salvation Army Guelph is pleased to announce the success of its 2024 Annual Christmas Campaign, which raised a total of $422,491.77. While falling just short of the $425,000 goal, the funds raised will have a significant impact on the local community, helping those in need during the holiday season and beyond.
This year’s fundraising campaign included the iconic Christmas Kettles, a direct mail campaign, and online donations, which together contributed to the total raised.
Through the generosity of donors and supporters, The Salvation Army’s Christmas Hamper program was able to provide 1,155 households with food hampers and provided almost 1,300 children with toys.
“We are deeply grateful to our donors, volunteers, and supporters who have once again shown tremendous generosity,” said Major Peter van Duinen, pastor of The Salvation Army in Guelph. “The funds raised, and the toys and food distributed will make a lasting impact on families facing hardship. With the help of our community, we are able to provide hope and care during times when it is needed most.”
A heartfelt thank you is also extended to the hundreds of volunteers whose hard work and dedication make this campaign possible year after year. From the Christmas Kettle Bell Ringers to the businesses hosting toy and food drives, schools and service clubs organizing donation initiatives, and families and individuals who generously gave their time to assist with registration, packing, and distributing food and toy hampers – none of this would have been possible without you. Your commitment to helping others is inspiring and vital to the success of our mission.
The Salvation Army is committed to serving almost 20,000 individuals in Guelph and surrounding areas each year, providing assistance to those facing challenging situations. The success of this year’s campaign demonstrates the continued trust the community places in The Salvation Army’s mission to share the love of Jesus, meet human need, and be a transforming influence in our world.
“We know that our work doesn’t end at Christmas,” Major van Duinen added. “We rely on the continued support of our community year-round to help us meet the needs of our neighbors, and we encourage anyone who would like to help to donate at any time.”
Donations can be made throughout the year by visiting The Salvation Army at 1320 Gordon Street, calling 519-836-9360, or donating online at www.guelphsa.ca/donate.
