Hairstyles come and go but good times are never out of fashion and that is what has kept clients of Goodtimes Hairstyles coming back for 20 years.

Lore Bortolon opened the shop at 83 Surrey Street in 1997 and long-time cutting colleague Krista Schuler joined three years later.

Bortolon picked up his scissors in 1985 as a way to pay the bills while he pursued his first passion, playing guitar.

He and some high-school buddies put together the classic rock band Farmer in 1969 and he has performed with a number of acts covering a variety of styles over the years.

“I have been playing a long time,” said Bortolon. “We were just kids when we started Farmer. I was very shy so being in a band was a great way to meet girls.”

Music is Bortolon’s first love with golf coming in at a close second. Licks and links are regular topics of conversation with his customers, some of whom have been with him since the 80s.

“I have clients who have been coming to me for more than 30 years, believe it or not,” he said. “I have a great client base, a lot of history, a lot of stories.”
