WELLINGTON COUNTY – The new Wellington County rural COVID-19 assessment centre will be appointment only.

Starting today, appointments can be booked for the testing centre at the Harriston Railway Station, at 83 Arthur St. in Harriston, for Tuesday and Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Testing is booked over the phone at 519-843-8160.

The Harriston assessment centre does not accept walk-ins and strictly tests those who qualify under provincial criteria.

Criteria includes showing any COVID-19 symptoms or if you are asymptomatic but have been alerted to a possible exposure through the COVID Alert app or public health, you live or work in a setting identified as having an outbreak or you belong to a specific group outlined by the Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The Groves Legacy testing centre in Fergus has expanded its operations to five days a week Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A new website dedicated to the Rural Wellington assessment centres has launched and the Wellington Health Care Alliance encourages people to check with the website before visiting either testing site.
