ARTHUR — Wellington North has approved the final phase of a large Arthur development set to bring 55 new residential units to the area.
Approved in principle at a Wellington North council meeting this week, staff said East Ridge Landing development's fifth phase will bring 18 single detached residential lots, six semi-detached residential lots with 12 units and 25 on-street townhouse units to the end of Eastview Drive and Schmidt Drive.
In addition to the residential portion of the development, Schmidt Drive and Walsh Street are planned to be extended. A walkway is also planned along the easterly border.
County planning staff have shared no concerns with the proposed development, saying the development provides alternative housing forms "needed in the community."
Purchased in 2005, the developer Pinestone Homes' first three phases have been constructed while Phase 4 is currently under construction. Once completed, the development will have 217 units and a large park.
A stormwater pond was built in the development's first phase to service all five phases.
No councillor comments were shared at the Monday council meeting. A public meeting in November also attracted no concerns.
A final amending bylaw will be presented to the township for final approval once a decision is rendered on the County Official Plan amendment.
