CENTRE WELLINGTON – The township is warning residents not to fall for a new scam asking them to pay their parking tickets using text.

Reminding residents that payments through text messages are not authorized or valid, staff posted to the township of Centre Wellington's Facebook page to warn residents of recent fraudulent text messages promoting residents to pay their parking tickets via text.

Staff said the only legitimate way to pay a parking violation online is to follow the instructions on the back of the ticket or under the parking tab on the township's website.

Residents can pay parking tickets online through Pay a Parking Ticket, by phone, in person at the municipal office or by mail.
