Weapon seized after cops spot man smoking suspected crystal meth

On May 6, 2020 at 11:13 a.m., members of the Guelph Police Service High Enforcement Action Team observed a male standing in the downtown core of the City of Guelph [allegedly] smoking crystal methamphetamine out of a glass pipe.

The male was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a folding knife with a four-inch blade that fully opened with direct pressure applied a switch on the handle and two small rubber containers contaminated with drug residue believed to be crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl.

A 33-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
    •    Possession of a prohibited weapon
    •    Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order

He will appear in court on Aug. 14.
