Unruly customer charged with assaulting officer

A 30-year-old Guelph woman was being arrested for causing a disturbance when incident allegedly happened

A Guelph female faces charges after a police officer was allegedly assaulted during an altercation at a local business Saturday morning.

Shortly after midnight, police were called to a business in the area of Woodlawn Road West and Imperial Road North, after staff reported a female swearing and being belligerent with staff. The female was removed and advised not to return, however approximately two hours later staff called and said she had come back and was again being belligerent.

Officers attended and located the female still inside. She was arrested for causing a disturbance, but while being arrested struck one of the officers in the side of the head while holding a full coffee in the same hand, report police. The officer was not injured.

A 30-year-old Guelph female was further charged with assaulting a police officer. She will appear in a Guelph court March 15.
