A moving truck was broken into on Friday evening, resulting in robbery charges for two people.
A man was reportedly walking toward his rented U-Haul truck in the parking lot of Stone Road Mall at about 7:35 p.m. when he saw a man standing near the back of the truck holding a metal rod, and also heard a female’s voice. When he called police, the suspect raised the rod over his head and chased the victim for about 30 metres through the parking lot, a police news release explains.
The suspect then returned to the truck and was seen leaving the area with a woman.
The victim inspected the truck and discovered a laptop bag missing.
Officers found the suspects walking near Stone Road and the Hanlon Expressway. Both were arrested and the stolen property recovered after being thrown into a wooded area.
A 46-year-old Guelph man and a 36-year-old Guelph woman were each charged with robbery. The man was also charged with resisting arrest.
