Two Guelph men face impaired driving charges following separate incidents during the weekend, police say.
The first happened Saturday, just after 9 p.m. while police were running a RIDE spot check on Gordon Street, just south of Wellington Street. While speaking with a driver, an officer reportedly became suspicious they’d been drinking and asked for a breath sample, which resulted in a ‘fail.’
He was arrested and taken to the police station, where further testing allegedly confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

At about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, an officer on patrol near Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street spotted a vehicle being driven erratically and pulled it over. The officer reportedly detected a strong odour of alcohol and the driver was allegedly showing signs of impairment.
The driver was arrested and taken to the police station, where tests are said to show he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.
