A man wanted for threatening and assaulting store workers during two separate incidents last week was arrested Saturday following an attempted theft from a third store.
As explained in a police news release, officers were called to a business in the area of Speedvale Avenue East and Stevenson Street North at about 6 p.m. A man had left without paying for merchandise and was confronted outside by an employee and a customer who was recording the interaction.
The suspect allegedly slapped the customer’s hand, causing him to drop his phone.
Police arrived a few minutes later, placing a 23-year-old Guelph man under arrest for theft under $5,000 and assault.
Investigation revealed the man was wanted in relation to two incidents last week which saw employees of stores downtown and on Stone Road West threatened and assaulted.
He was further charged with an additional three counts of assault and five counts of uttering threats.
