Guelph police are asking east end residents to check security cameras after an attempted vehicle theft early Sunday.
Approximately 4:45 a.m. police were called to a home near Starwood Drive and Law Drive. The homeowner said he looked outside after his dog started barking and noticed a rear window smashed on his 2024 Toyota Tundra.
There were two vehicles stopped in front of the victim’s house which left the scene when he opened the door. When the victim investigated he found his truck’s console open and the steering column damaged. One of the suspect vehicles was described as a dark-coloured pick-up, possibly with dual rear wheels.
Police are also investigating the theft of a Toyota Tundra late Saturday or early Sunday from the area of Water Street and Forest Hill Drive. On Sunday morning a Guelph man reported he was staying at a friend’s residence overnight and awoke in the morning to find his truck gone.
It is described as a black 2024 Tundra with a solid tonneau cover and aftermarket tube-style running boards. It also had a quantity of power tools inside. It is not known if the two incidents are related.
