A Brampton woman was charged with impaired operation following a suspicious vehicle call in Guelph early Tuesday.

Approximately 3:20 a.m. a resident near Marlborough Road and Speedvale Avenue East reported a vehicle which had been stopped in front of his house for more than 10 minutes and was parked within inches of his vehicle.

Officers arrived and spoke to a woman sitting in the driver’s seat of the running car. The woman had a strong odour of alcohol on her breath and an open bottle of alcohol was observed inside the car.

After failing a roadside breath test she was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests revealed she had nearly four times the legal amount of alcohol in her system. A 25-year-old Brampton woman is charged with impaired operation. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days. She will appear in court Oct. 22.
