A 41-year-old man is in hospital with serious injuries after a stabbing in Downtown Guelph.
Guelph police were called to an area around Wyndham Street and Woolwich around 10:45 a.m. Thursday.
The man was sent to a trauma centre in Hamilton as a result.
When asked if public safety is a concern and if the two involved are known to each other, spokesperson Scott Tracey said he isn't sure of the public safety aspect, but added the attack "does appear to be stranger-on-stranger."
Police are looking to speak with a white male seen in the area. He is described as being in his 40s, was wearing a ball cap and black jacket, and had a scooter.
"At this point, we believe he has information in terms of what happened," Tracey said.
There is no word on suspects at this time.
No roads are blocked off, but police are in the area investigating.
