Store manager pushed, spat upon while trying to remove shoplifter: police

Police are investigating after a store manager was allegedly pushed and spat upon while attempting to remove a shoplifter on Sunday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m. officers were called to a physical disturbance outside a business near Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. The store manager reportedly spotted a woman who was previously banned and allegedly saw her concealing merchandise.

As he was trying to escort her from the store, a male accomplice reportedly approached and shoved the manager. Both suspects then spat in the victim’s face before fleeing.

The manager was not physically hurt, police say.

The male suspect is described as a white man with a bald head. At the time, he was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. The female suspect is also described as white. At the time she was wearing a light blue jacket.
