A 23-year-old Guelph man faces a variety of charges, including robbery and possession of a concealed weapon, after a west end store worker was threatened by a suspected shoplifter.

Police were called to a Silvercreek Parkway North business shortly after 4:20 p.m. on Saturday. It was reported a loss prevention officer observed a male placing several items into a backpack and leaving the store. Confronted by the worker, the suspect allegedly threatened to kill him and fled.

The suspect was identified and arrested on Sunday.

At that time, police state he was in possession of a pocketknife, in violation of a bail condition imposed earlier this month for allegedly assaulting and threatening employees at two other local businesses.
