Guelph police are hoping the public can identify two men seen near the theft of steel from a west end business.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help identifying two people in connection with the theft of about $30,000 in steel tubes taken from a west end work yard earlier this month.

Officers were called to a business in the area of Elmira Road North and Massey Road on Dec. 16, where it was reported a large quantity of steel tubes had been taken within the past couple days. The tubes range in length from three to 12 feet.

Surveillance video from a nearby business shows two males arriving in a white cube van at about 2 a.m. on Dec. 15, police explain in a news release. The men spent nearly two hours there before leaving.

Both males appear to be white. At the time, they were wearing jackets, dark-coloured jeans, white shoes, gloves and face coverings.

Anyone who recognizes the males or vehicle, or has other information about the theft, is asked to call Const. Firas El-Ayoubi at 519-824-1212 ext. 7129 or email [email protected]. Details can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.csgw.tips.
