Police are on the lookout for a burglar who pried open a north end business’s door and made off with nearly $50,000 in scratch-off lottery tickets.

Investigators were called to the Woodlawn Road business on Monday morning.

Investigation revealed a suspect parked a short distance from the business just after 10 p.m. on Saturday and approached the closed business about three hours later, a police news release explains. The suspect then pried open the front doors to get inside.

They were reportedly seen on video exiting the business a short time later with two reusable shopping bags filled with scratch tickets and fleeing in their vehicle.

The business owner told police the tickets were not activated at the time of the theft and would be flagged by the lottery corporation if someone attempted to redeem prizes.

The suspect was described as possibly male with a medium build. At the time of the break-in, they were wearing a black jacket, black pants, a white hoodie, white medical mask and black shoes or boots.
