A Guelph man faces more than a dozen charges following an investigation of a vehicle being driven dangerously.
On Jan. 3, officers spotted an unplated white Ford F150 being driven on Woodlawn Road West and entering a restaurant drive-through. An officer attempted to pull over the truck by standing in front of it. The driver proceeded forward – requiring the officer to step aside to avoid being struck – and fled the area. Officers were able to identify the driver.
On Wednesday members of the Break Enter Auto Theft Unit located the same truck, now spray-painted black, and followed it through the city to an address on Waterloo Avenue. The driver attempted to flee on foot but was caught and arrested following a brief pursuit. A search revealed suspected methamphetamine and psilocybin and a spring-loaded knife.
A 37-year-old Guelph man is charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, resisting arrest, two counts of possessing controlled substances, unauthorized possession of a weapon, two counts of breaching probation and several counts of driving while prohibited. He was held for a bail hearing.
