A months-long vacancy on the Guelph Police Services Board has been filled.

During its meeting on Wednesday, city council unanimously appointed Guelph lawyer Ajay Sharma the board’s fifth voting position.

Sharma joins council representatives Mayor Cam Guthrie and Coun. Phil Allt on the board, alongside provincial appointees Peter McSherry, who serves as chair, and vice-chair Jane Armstrong.

Carter, who joined the board in 2019 after retiring from the University of Guelph, resigned last November.
