Guelph police investigating sudden death at apartment building (UPDATED)

UPDATE (3:15 p.m.): Police say the deceased was a 51-year-old man. Officers were called to the building around 3 p.m. for a wellness check, and are still at the scene. When asked if the death is being considered suspicious, police say "it is considered a coroner's investigation, and still being investigated."

A sudden death investigation is underway at a housing complex in the northwest end of the city.

Guelph police say a male was found unresponsive in an apartment unit near Woolwich Street and Speedvale Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not indicate if the death is being considered suspicious, but added there isn't a reason to believe there is a risk to public safety at this time.
