Drug bust sees police seize more than 220 grams of cocaine

A Guelph male faces a number of drug trafficking charges after he was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

In late 2021, police began an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances.

The ongoing investigation led to the arrest of two males on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers conducted a search of a motor vehicle as well as a residence following the arrests. As a result of these searches, more than 220 grams of cocaine with a street value of $22,000 was seized, as well as paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Officers also located almost $2,000 cash, three sets of brass knuckles, a functioning conducted energy weapon, a butterfly-style knife and a realistic-looking pellet gun.

A 29-year-old Guelph male is charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and five counts of possessing prohibited weapons. He has been released on bail and will next appear in a Guelph court Feb. 25.

A 41-year-old Cambridge male is charged with possessing a controlled substance. He will appear in a Guelph court March 29.
