Guelph police are investigating after a woman was reportedly assaulted with bear spray while visiting a friend Tuesday night.
Just before 11 p.m. a resident near Exhibition Park reported she and her dogs began reacting to a noxious substance. She believed the smell was coming from the basement apartment and went to check on the occupants where she found a woman vomiting.
Investigation revealed the woman had been visiting a friend when another woman known to both showed up and they got into a physical confrontation. The victim was punched repeatedly in the head and had the substance sprayed directly into her face. She was assessed by paramedics at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
