Two people were arrested Thursday morning after reportedly unknowingly agreeing to sell stolen property to police officers.
Last Sunday night a Guelph man reported his vehicle was entered at an address on Woolwich Street and approximately $1,300 worth of climbing equipment was stolen. The next day the equipment was listed for sale on an online marketplace.
A police officer contacted the seller and arranged to meet Thursday morning and buy the equipment for $400. The seller advised his girlfriend would meet the buyer and provided a description of her.
Just after 9 a.m. Thursday officers met with and arrested the girlfriend. Her boyfriend was located a short distance away and also arrested. The climbing equipment was recovered and returned to the victim.
A 38-year-old Guelph man and 27-year-old Guelph woman are each charged with possessing stolen property under $5,000, while the man is also charged with breaching a probation order.
