A first for the University of Guelph, as it looks to promote safety in sports.

The University of Guelph is hosting its first-ever safe sport symposium on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m.

The event is aimed at those operating within sport, including minor sports coaches, officials, administrators, board members and volunteers.

The event will feature education and training “based on the values, principles and guidelines of the True Sport and Responsible Coaching Movements.”

Former Canadian alpine skier and safe sport advocate Allison Forsyth is the keynote speaker.

There will also be panel discussions held at the event.

It is a free event, but you need to reserve a seat ahead of time on the U of G website.
