Local martial artists win hardware at provincial championships

Guelph Family Martial Arts returned home with nine gold medals and three bronze medals

Students from Guelph Family Martial Arts returned from the Ontario Provincial Martial Arts Championships held this past weekend in Burlington, Ontario. The event drew athletes from across North America and martial artists from different styles. One of the most competitive events in the country. 

Coached by lifetime local residents and World Champions Nathan and Sophie Skoufis.

The team brought home:

  • 9x GOLD Medals 
  • 3x BRONZE Medals 

Results were:

  • Grace Bridges: Gold Medal Sparring
  • Chris Hordatt: Gold Medal Kata and Gold Medal Weapons
  • Kent Watson: Gold Medal Sparring
  • Vanya Chadha: Gold Medal Sparring
  • Deepali Rajpal: Gold Medal Sparring 
  • Meghan McMurtry: Gold Medal Sparring and Gold Medal Sparring 
  • Mike Barker: Gold Medal Sparring
  • Rahul Dighade: Bronze Medal Sparring 
  • Ella Marit: Bronze Medal Sparring
  • Grayson McMurtry: Bronze Medal Sparring
  • Reese Barker: Finalist Sparring
