We had some recent success at the Laurier Provincial Games and took three basketball teams.
It was the first games in eight years because of COVID.
We took a bus over on Thursday, May 23 and stayed in the residence until Sunday, May 26.
We had an amazing experience.
The best part was that all 3 Guelph Gryphon Basketball teams played hard and brought home the Gold.
There were 29 basketball teams from across the province setup in seven divisions.
Our Guelph teams proudly wore their new Guelph Gryphon uniforms.
Division 2: Guelph Gryphons #1: were 4-0
-Victories over Barrie, Durham, Welland (twice)
Members of the team are: Austin Norton, Blair Bastien, Francis Ferlito, Jordan Embro, Mackenzie de Jonge, Mark Jamieson, Sheldon Rileyand Thomas Evers.
Coaches were: Andrew Maclean, Nick Boychuk and Joe Evers.
Division 3: Guelph Gryphons #2: were 4-0
-Victories over Brampton, Brockville, Burlington and Newmarket
Members of the team were: Adam Vettor, Jennifer Allen, Jesse Trask, Nathan Riley, Shayne Beaver, Taylor Redmond, Carson Diegel, Joshua Schembri and Letisha Fay
Coaches were: Barb & Steve Redmond and Gino Vettor
Division 5: Guelph Gryphons # 3: were 4-0
-Victories over Barrie, Kitchener, Perth ( twice)
Members of the team were: Evan Pringle, Curtis Connelly, David Haramule, David Tichborne, Dylan Reid, Michael Daponte, Patrick Alderton and Tyrese Mitchell.
Coaches were: Animesh Vadaparti, Michael Grove, Henry Hess and Andrew Sherriff.
Taylor's Summary
Overall the Provincial games in Waterloo were the best weekend of my life.
I had a lot of fun and met new friends from different cities.
