CITY OF GUELPH
************************
Doors Open is back Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.! As you get ready to explore the unique beauty and heritage of Guelph, here are tips and tricks to help make the most of this event:
- Plan your route
To plan your route and learn more about the sites on tour this year, visit the Doors Open Ontario website.
- Get in the mood at Doors Open After Dark
To warm up for the day-long celebration of heritage, Guelph Museums presents Doors Open After Dark Friday, April 28 from 5 p.m. to Saturday, April 29 at 1 a.m. Featuring musical performances, interactive art installations and behind-the-scenes tours, you’ll want to stay up all night, but don’t. You’ll need your energy for Saturday!
- Visit food-themed sites and have a quick bite
Many of the sites align with this year’s Doors Open Ontario theme of Food. Muslim Society of Guelph, Sikh Gurdwara, Petrie Building, Sleeman Breweries, and Spring Mill Distillery will offer samples of food and drink or will have takeout options to purchase.
- Take a guided bike tour of some Doors Open sites
Guelph Coalition for Active Transportation (GCAT) is offering guided bike tours of three clusters of sites: a Downtown Walking tour, a Central Cycling tour, and a South End Cycling tour. Each tour will be offered once, beginning at 10 a.m. at a predetermined start location, with a tour group capacity of approximately 20 people.
Registration is required to take part in these tours. To learn more about each tour and register, visit Doors Open Guelph.
If you wish to cycle the sites on your own, plan your route from home and back using the City of Guelph Bike Map.
- Go for a guided walk at Guelph’s hidden Kettle Lakes
The Guelph Hiking Trail Club will offer short, guided hikes of Guelph’s Kettle Lakes regularly on-demand from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tours begin at the south end of the parking lot for Pearson Park (to the rear of Bishop Macdonell High School).
