UGDSB and WCDSB at or above provincial standard for Grade 6 EQAO

Math, reading and writing at or a above the provincial standard

EQAO results are in and Grade 6 results for math, reading and writing at both local school boards are at or above the provincial standard.

At the Upper Grand District School Board, 52 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 86 per cent in reading and 85 per cent in writing.

That's up from last school year when 47 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 84 per cent in reading and 84 per cent in writing.

At WCDSB 58 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 88 per cent in reading and 89 per cent in writing. 

In the 2021/2022 school year at WCDSB 47 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 84 per cent in reading and 84 per cent in writing.

“Over the 2022-2023 school year, Wellington Catholic DSB prioritized foundational learning supports. Among those, opportunities were given for secondary math educators to collaborate throughout the year and participate in professional learning,” said Michelle Sawa, WCDSB superintendent of student achievement, in a press release.

“During this time educators implemented inclusive and responsive instructional practices alongside the new de-streamed math curriculum, as well as engaging students with mathematics using a thinking classrooms model and spiraled curriculum delivery. All worked to contribute to the board’s positive success rates with the assessments in mathematics,” Sawa said.

For the province as a whole 50 per cent of Grade 6 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 84 per cent in reading and 84 per cent in writing.

In the 2021/2022 school year, 47 per cent of Grade 6 students in the province met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 84 per cent in reading and 84 per cent in writing.

For Grade 3 students at UGDSB 57 per cent met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 70 per cent in reading and 63 per cent in writing.

At UGDSB in 2021/2022 56 per cent of Grade 3 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 73 per cent in reading, 64 per cent in writing.

For Grade 3 students at WCDSB 63 per cent met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 75 per cent in reading and 67 per cent in writing.

At WCDSB in 2021/2022 59 per cent of Grade 3 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 73 per cent in reading and 64 per cent in writing. 

Grade 3 students in the province were 60 per cent met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 73 per cent in reading and 65 per cent for writing.

In the 2021/2022 school year 59 per cent of Grade 3 students in the province met or exceeded the provincial standard in math, 73 per cent in reading and 64 per cent in writing.

Grade 9 students are evaluated in math for EQAO. Grade 10 students are evaluated in literacy through the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

This school year 52 per cent of Grade 9 UGDSB students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 88 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.

In the 2021/2022 school year 52 per cent of Grade 9 UGDSB students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 82 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.

At WCDSB 53 per cent of Grade 9 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 85 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.

In the 2021/2022 school year 52 per cent of Grade 9 WCDSB students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 82 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.

For the province as a whole 53 per cent of Grade 9 students met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 85 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.

In the 2021/2022 school year 52 per cent of Grade 9 students in the province met or exceeded the provincial standard in math and 82 per cent of first-time eligible Grade 10 students were successful in the OSSLT.
