Trees for Tots is entering its 13th year of supporting the community through a one-day donation-for-service event. This annual event, hosted by the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, is a community focused event that raises critical funds, all while supporting residents with a community service. For a suggested minimum contribution of $15, Guelph, Puslinch, and Rockwood residents can register to have their Christmas trees picked up from their curb after the holidays.
The collected trees are chipped and repurposed for various community projects, including creek restoration and walking trails. Registration for tree pick-up is open until noon on Jan. 7, 2025, with pick-up scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 11.
Residents can register for tree pick-up at www.treesfortots.ca or by telephone at 519-826-9551 ext. 125.
"Trees for Tots is more than just a fundraiser. It's a celebration of community spirit and environmental impact," said Jodi Carreiro, Community Engagement Manager at the Children's Foundation. "Every tree picked up, every dollar raised directly supports children and youth in our community, while also contributing to some great environmental initiatives right here in Guelph, at the Guelph Arboretum and Marden Park.
"It's a powerful reminder of what we can achieve together."
The Children's Foundation proudly acknowledges Indi Mortgage as the Trees for Tots presenting sponsor, JL's Tree Service, and Hersey Bins as lead partners, Alliance Roofing as the toque sponsor, Tyson Hinschberger, Realtor at Planet Realty Inc., as the registration sponsor, and Neeb Excavations Inc. as the media sponsor.
All proceeds from Trees for Tots directly support the Children's Foundation, furthering its mission to enhance the well-being of children and youth by connecting them to experiences and supports that contribute to their sense of belonging and help them to reach their full potential. The foundation invests in children through food security, access to recreation and life-skill activities, mental health and educational support, and holiday assistance.
Last year Trees for Tots collected over 3,600 trees and raised over $93,000, showcasing the significant impact of this initiative in addressing the community's growing needs.
