Ghost Ride honours Susan Bard, cyclist killed earlier this month

The death of Susan Bard earlier in September is a pressing reminder of the risks people face when they choose to walk, cycle or roll in Guelph. A ghost ride was held to honour Bard at city hall and nearly 150 riders cycled to the site of the collision on Victoria Road to lay down her ghost bike, with more people there waiting. READ FULL STORY HERE

Reliving memories of Old Groves Hospital through a piece of it

The original Groves Hospital on Union Street in Fergus is just a memory and locals were able to capture it by walking away with a brick from the former building. The memories associated with the hospital were ones of children being born and nurses who worked there. READ FULL STORY HERE

Lourdes high school adopts new team name after concerns about 'Crusaders'

After a year of discussions, Our Lady of Lourdes has dropped its Crusaders team name and will now be the home of the Lancers. The name Crusader dates back to medieval times and crusaders were people who were involve in military expeditions by Christian powers to 'win' the Holy Land from the Muslims. Religious wars spanned about 200 years between 1096 and 1291. The transition from Crusaders to Lancers at the high school with branding included in the school and on social media is switching over. READ FULL STORY HERE

Take a look inside Evan Juergensen's Fergus House of Horrors where he used a 100-year-old farmhouse formerly owned by his grandpa and turned it into a haunted house. There are a variety of themed rooms in the house and a walk through a corn field. No home mail delivery for Guelph neighbourhood terrorized by loose dogs

For one Guelph neighbourhood getting mail is proving to be difficult due to about six dogs wandering loose in the area and Canada Post deeming the area unsafe for its delivery workers. There used to be door-to-door mail delivery on Algoma Drive and surrounding streets but after Canada Post conducted a safety assessment in the area, home delivery was temporarily suspended. Its due to dogs escaping their from their Algoma Drive home, wandering the streets, barking, growling and showing their teeth, said neighbours in the area. READ FULL STORY HERE

Ban on personal use/sale of fireworks in Guelph seems imminent

At the end of the month Guelph could see new restrictions on firework sales and use but it's not yet clear what the new rules will be. On Tuesday, city council's committee of the whole passed a motion directing staff to create a new permit-based fireworks bylaw to replace the city's current fireworks bylaw. 'Millions' in damage as eight homes under construction torched in Erin

Suspicious fires at an under construction subdivision in Erin is estimated to have caused "millions of dollars" in damages and destroyed multiple units. Emergency crews responded to a reported fire on Brown Street in Erin on Sept. 27 just before 1 a.m. A release by OPP said there were two separate fires in the new housing development and a total of eight homes were damaged or destroyed. READ FULL STORY HERE
