GUELPH STORM

The Guelph Storm is pleased to announce that over 180 backpacks were collected for the Hope House's Community Backpack Project. Each year Hope House coordinates a school supply drive to provide children with the tools they need to have a successful school year.
"We are so happy to be able to help with this amazing program," said Storm vice-president of business operations, Matt Newby. "The community response exceeded our expectations and we look forward to continuing to help children in our community with backpack supply drives for many years to come."
Last year, the project distributed 1,600 backpacks filled with school materials to those in need. So far this year, 1,315 families have already registered for the program.
"The Guelph Community Backpack Project partners are thrilled by the community's participation through their donation of 183 backpacks filled with school supplies," executive director of Hope House, Jaya James, said. "This is an amazing response for the first year that the Guelph Storm has led a backpack supply drive and makes a significant contribution to the 1,600 backpacks that will be distributed this year."
Those who donated backpacks to the Storm office and Mark Wilson's Better Used Cars received two complimentary ticket vouchers to our firs-ever Community Backpack Project game on Friday, Dec. 2 against the Erie Otters.
