Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health (WDGPH) will be running a series of flu and COVID-19, or FluVID, vaccine clinics this fall.
The clinics are planned for a six week period starting the week of Oct. 16, offering both the flu shot and a COVID-19 booster. The exact date is to be determined, as it's unknown when the vaccines will arrive, though they're typically delivered in early fall.
The booster is specific to the Omicron variant, though WDGPH expects the vaccine will be sufficient for other variants, like EG.5, as well.
Clinics will be operated in the three main public health offices, as well as locations in Stone Road Mall in Guelph and Fergus Sportsplex in Wellington County. They will run weekly, including one Saturday clinic in each area.
There will be additional pop-up clinics in remote areas as well for people who may struggle to access the vaccine in mainstream clinic environments.
WDGPH recommends everyone get the flu shot and COVID-19 booster, particularly higher risk populations, like older adults, people in long-term care homes and those with pre-existing medical conditions
