Mission accomplished for the University of Guelph’s United Way campaign.
The university said it raised $460,481 in 2024, exceeding its $450,000 target. The university credited efforts made from staff members, students, alumni and volunteers to get the job done.
The money goes toward community programming across Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin.
“It’s truly inspiring to see how every contribution matters,” John Walsh, a U of G history professor and campaign co-chair, said in a news release.
“Big or small, each donation can make a lasting impact. The U of G community’s commitment to supporting the United Way every year speaks volumes about who we are and the values we share.”
The total has made a dent in the United Way's fundraising efforts. A fundraising goal for the 2024 campaign was not set, but the local United Way's campaign chair Ray Stultz said during the September launch that over $2.6 million needs to be raised to maintain support.
The total for the 2024 campaign isn't known at the moment, but the 2023 campaign raised $2.54 million.
