With just one table, a four-foot dance floor and room for nine customers, a full house is a common occurrence at Standing Room Only, Canada's smallest bar that opened in The Ward last January.
"Let's throw a dash of Dr. Seuss and some Willy Wonka at it, and maybe a hue of Disney," said property and bar owner/bartender Doug Todd of the thought that went into the bar's design. "Let's make it just (so) people want to walk in and sit. You're so consumed by everything."
Standing Room Only has a capacity of nine in the 144-square foot space and a bid for a patio at the Ontario Street location fell short at city hall when a numbers of neighbours objected.
But overall the bar has been well-received as an uber-cool place to get an uber-cool cocktail.
Just get there early.
