The Elliott Community has added more beds to its long-term care residence.

There are 29 additional beds at the renovated long-term care home at 170 Metcalfe St. Now the total number of beds is 114.

Funding for the project was announced in 2023 by the Ministry of Long-Term Care. It provided $3.68 million for the project.

In September, The Elliott dealt with supply chain issues which led to a delay in the project and an extra $300,000 needed to remedy the issue.

The project is part of the provincial government’s plan to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care spaces.

“Our government is building new and redeveloped beds so all long-term care residents can get the care they need from the comfort of their own home. Today marks an important milestone for the people of Guelph and the future residents who now have a new place to call home,” said Tyler Allsopp, parliamentary assistant to the minister of long-term care, in a press release.
