The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is delighted to announce the appointment of Karyn Kirkwood as its new executive director, effective Oct. 2.

Her unwavering commitment to serving children and youth in our community shines through in all her endeavours, and this promotion is a testament to her exceptional work and leadership. We also extend our sincere gratitude to Suzanne Bone for her leadership in stepping up as interim executive director since April, ensuring the continued excellence in delivering on our mission during the transition.”
Karyn joined the Children’s Foundation in 2014, bringing over 30 years experience in administration, fundraising, and program management, along with a rich background working directly with youth as a children’s librarian and storyteller. During Karyn’s tenure at the Foundation, she has served as the program director for three of the core programs; and since 2022, she has played a pivotal role in fund development as senior director of development. Karyn also served as interim executive director in 2019. Her contributions over the past nine years have led to a remarkable increase in both program outreach and fund development, ensuring sustainable funding and continuous support for children and youth.
Karyn commented on her new role, saying, “Being chosen as the new executive director of the Children's Foundation is a tremendous honour. I love the Children’s Foundation and the work that we do to connect kids with what they need to build a brighter future. I am excited about the limitless possibilities ahead and very proud to have the opportunity to guide the Foundation's journey over the upcoming years. With such an exceptional community, including our dedicated donors, partners, board, staff, and volunteers, I have full confidence that together, we will continue to have a profound impact on the lives of children and their families.”
The Children’s Foundation looks forward to a promising future under Karyn’s leadership. Suzanne will return to her role as a Board Director in October, continuing to support the team and the Foundation’s mission.
