CRIME STOPPERS GUELPH WELLINGTON

Crime Stoppers Guelph Wellington (CSGW) released its statistics for 2024.
Throughout the year, there were 668 Tips provided to the program either through the toll-free number of 1-800-222-TIPS or through the website, www.csgw.tips.
These tips were forwarded to investigative partners, including Guelph Police Service and Wellington County OPP among others. This information resulted in four arrests, five cases cleared, and 18 charges laid.
As a result of providing information about criminal activity anonymously and confidentially, these individuals qualify for $1,130 in rewards, as approved by the CSGW Board of Directors. The 2024 statistics were finalized at the January 2025 Board meeting.
“2024 has once again been a successful year for CSGW where we have been able to safely and anonymously protect tipster information and provide that information to allow the Police to investigate and hold criminals accountable for their actions,” stated CSGW Board Chair Dave Elloway. “CSGW is proud to support our communities and to make Guelph Wellington safer.”
“It’s exciting to see how brave Tipsters have prioritized Community Safety,” said Sarah Bowers-Peter, CSGW Program Coordinator. “As we move into the new year, we encourage anyone who may have information about crime that has happened, or about to happen, to report it anonymously and confidentially to Crime Stoppers.”
Bowers-Peter pointed out that without Tipsters, these cases would not be solved.
CSGW is not the police, but a community-based not for profit organization with a Board of Directors. These individuals are volunteers from the City of Guelph and County of Wellington who want to live and work in safe communities.
