One of the Liberal leader candidates and current MPP Ted Hsu will be in Guelph Monday evening at a leadership event.

He will present his vision on energy at the Shakespeare Arms at 7 p.m. tonight, says a news release.

Part of his vision is to transition the energy system away from fossil fuels.

“Hsu understands the vital importance to Ontario’s economy of implementing a realistic and cost-effective transition to a low-carbon one,” said in a press release.

There are five people currently vying for the position.

Hsu is a current MPP and served as an MP for Kingston and the Islands from 2011 to 2015. In his position as MPP in the Liberal caucus he is a critic for energy, mines, natural resources and energy, and citizenship and multiculturalism.

He has a background in science and worked in science research for 10 years. Hsu worked in finance in business for nine years with the Bank Nationale de Paris and over three years as executive director for a sustainable energy association.

There are four individuals running for the Liberal leadership. Dec. 2 is when the new person will be chosen.
