A pedestrian was killed in an incident on the Hanlon Expressway at College Avenue in December.

GuelphToday has filed official complaints in regards to how one of its reporters was treated at the scene of a fatal vehicle/pedestrian collision last month.

On Dec. 20, while performing his duties as a reporter, Richard Vivian was berated, detained by an officer on scene and told he would be arrested if he didn't hand his camera over. He did, and the camera was later returned, but his SD card containing photos from the scene was confiscated by the coroner in attendance. The SD card was returned the next day by an OPP officer.

A complaint was filed in the form of an email to the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario and complaint was filed with the OPP via it's online submission portal.

Shortly after the incident the OPP posted on X that it would be looking into the incident. To date no one from the OPP has contacted the reporter or GuelphToday.
